Read recent CARF* comments from the onsite Canopy Cove evaluation
Canopy Cove excels in the area of patient care with a cohesive and highly integrated approach which addresses the multiple contributing factors of severe eating disorders. This therapeutic approach is evident throughout the therapy that includes individual, group, family, as well as the unique adjunctive art, music and equine therapy.
Canopy Cove employs an extremely evident positive culture that consistently reinforces the client’s growing confidence to face whatever past trauma or current life stress that contributes to their negative self-image.
Canopy Cove has implemented a successful and highly individualized therapy that helps a client learn specific cognitive behavioral techniques to overcome and eventually relinquish the negative body image which had previously kept the client in the depths of severe and often life-threatening depression.
Canopy Cove has established an exceptionally warm and inviting therapeutic physical environment which helps sustain the encouragement and positive message so necessary to heal and face the daily challenge of emotional growth.
The Executive Director maintains frequent contacts with all employees to ensure the vision, mission, and core values of the organization are present in all activities. She is also very involved in the community of specialized eating disorder professionals and advocates for improved services for all persons served in recovery programs.
The program offers a warm, homelike environment for the persons served. Every area of the adult and adolescent homes is very attractive and beautifully furnished. Each resident is allowed to decorate their bedroom with personal items and artwork that helps him to feel welcomed and accepted by all staff members. In addition, the homes have many common areas used for leisure time as well as therapeutic activities.
Hurricane Irma was a very destructive storm that threatened to do major damage across Florida in September of 2017. With the Governor declaring a state of emergency and ordering an evacuation of most of the state, Canopy Cove’s management did an excellent job of mobilizing clients and staff to relocate to a facility in southern Alabama until they could safely return back to Monticello. Despite the many logistical obstacles in carrying out the evacuation plan, the staff continued to provide care to all clients to ensure their safety and to ensure the therapeutic activities continued to serve the clients. There were remarkable acts of kindness exhibited by the entire team, and it demonstrates their tireless efforts during such trying and challenging times.
Canopy Cove has a beautiful campus located in a rural part of northcentral Florida with large oak trees and rolling fields of green grass. There are two beautiful homes located on the property which serve as the residence for adolescents and adults clients. The 50 plus acres of farmland is also home to eight horses that are used in the equine therapy program. Lastly, there is a building dedicated to providing art therapy to all clients. The atmosphere is very relaxing and contributes greatly to the therapeutic nature of the Eating Disorders Treatment Program.
All staff members are to be commended for their very diligent efforts in helping persons served to be successful in their treatment program. Client satisfaction surveys indicated high levels of satisfaction with all services provided. Clients were passionate about the quality of their service provider as well as the effectiveness of the services received.
The CEO of the company is to be commended for his dedicated efforts to establish a wonderful facility for the program as well as his efforts to successfully integrate the treatment program into the Monticello community. In addition, the CEO’s efforts to establish contracts with various insurance companies and to establish the business functions of the organization have provided a strong foundation for its long-term sustainability.
*CARF, stands for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
Accreditation assists service providers to improve the quality of their services and meet internationally recognized standards.
Consumers, their families, and the public look for CARF accreditation as assurance that providers strive to offer the highest quality services.
CARF is an independent, nonprofit organization focused on advancing the quality of services you use to meet your needs for the best possible outcomes.
The mission of CARF is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous improvement services that center on enhancing the lives of persons served. Through accreditation, CARF assists service providers in improving the quality of their services, demonstrating value, and meeting internationally recognized organizational and program standards.
The accreditation process applies sets of standards to service areas and business practices during an on-site survey. Accreditation, however, is an ongoing process, signaling to the public that a service provider is committed to continuously improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community. Accreditation also demonstrates a provider’s commitment to enhance its performance, manage its risk, and distinguish its service delivery.
